20. edition of Poligrafia fair From 19 to 22 of April the 20. edition of Poligrafia fair was held in Poznan. Among more than 280 exhibitors there many newcomers, e.g. Creo Poland, Duplo Poland, KBA-Grafitec and Xeikon. It was the first Poligrafia fair organized after joining the EU by Poland as well as the first edition organized after last year drupa. Therefore many new products shown in Poznan had its debut at drupa a year before; many of them were announced as ăSold to...Ó. Most of new products were CtP systems and digital presses, as well as offset sheet-fed presses, postpress equipment and consumables. A few new products were awarded the Golden Medals of Poligrafia fair. Among more than 13 thousand visitors there were many people coming from abroad, especially from the Western Europe. One of their biggest points of interest was the Polish PrintersŐ Village, the firstly organized special exhibition of Polish printing companies. The fair was accompanied by many events, including the 3. Printing Conference of the Polish Chamber of Printing (attended by more than 250 people), digital printing seminar organized by Poligrafika and the 3. Labeling Forum. There were many awards and prizes handed at the fair, e.g. the Golden Medals for the best new products, the Golden Griffins print quality contest organized by the Polish Chamber of Printing, and special diplomas for the most meritorious people and institutions involved in Poligrafia fair organization. There were also ăScholarship passportsÓ, funded for the best Polish printing students by Quad Graphics and Winkowski companies (photo above). Eurographic Press representatives in Poland At occasion of the Poligrafia fair, the Poznan International Fair and Poligrafika invited a group of foreign journalists. This year the 3-person group consisted of the Eurographic Press representatives: Mirja MŠntynen of ăPainomaailmaÓ (Finland), Martina Reinhardt of ăDeutscher DruckerÓ (Germany) and Tom Hawkins of ăPrinting WorldÓ (UK). During their staying in Poland the journalists spent two days at Poligrafia fair as well as visited three printing companies from the neighborhood of Wielkopolska region: Interak of Czarnkow and Agora and Winkowski of Pila. Polish accent at Nexpo 2005 The biggest American newspaper exhibition Nexpo 2005 was held in Dallas from 19 to 22 of March. One of few European companies participating in the fair was Polish company AC&C HSH Group. The biggest interest was attracted by its automatic system of PDF files processing PuzzleFlow 2 and newspaper production software Web-Pairer. AC&C HSH Group managers had also many interesting meetings with representatives of companies like Founder, Gannet Group, KPG, Screen, Tera and Quad/Tech. Right after the show AC&C HSH Group representatives visited editorial offices of one of newspapers belonging to Gannet Group (associating more than 90 newspapers). The company was interested in installing PuzzleFlow software. New president of the Polish Chamber of Printing On 28 of April the General Assembly of the Polish Chamber of Printing took place. The most important part was election of a new board. Robert Musial of Agora SA was elected the new President of the Board, he received more than 90% of votes. Mr. Musial is Print Department Manager and Member of the Board of Agora Poligrafia, a printing part of Agora group, publisher of ăGazeta WyborczaÓ. There was also a new Board elected. It consists of representatives of a few big printing companies: Winkowski Ltd., Polskapresse, Interak, Lotos Poligrafia, Olsztynskie Zakłady Graficzne and Pozkal.
