0% VAT on export of books and the press Following several months of negotiations with the Ministry of Finance VAT on the export of books and the press (in form of complete products) was set at 0%. Naturally that refers to export within the EU. This decision, largely the result of actions taken by the Polish Chamber of Printing, can be perceived as a success of the entire Polish printing industry. Changes on the Board of Directors of Poligrafia SA On January 7, 2005, Jacek Kobyliński was named to the position of Chairman of the Board of Poligrafia SA printing company. He had begun working for Poligrafia in September 2002 as Sales and Marketing Director, and two months later became Member of the Board. He has replaced at the position Alexander L. Walker, who had managing Poligrafia since January 2003. Alex Walker will remain the companyŐs consultant during the short transition period. New Managing Director at Stora Enso Polska On January 1, 2005, there was a change on the position of Managing Director of Stora Enso Polska Sp. z o.o. (Co. Ltd); Piotr Kuzebski, Sales Director in Stora Enso since 2001, took over the position so far held by Henrik Stjernvall, who, after seven years in Poland on the position, was named to the position of Managing Director of Stora Enso Austria. Printing house for Fakt newspaper Approaching is the completion date of construction of a new printing house of Axel Springer Polska and Seregni Printing Group in Sosnowiec. Printing presses for the printing house will come from Germany. Axel Springer Polska publishes such titles as Fakt or Newsweek, with the daily Fakt, the highest circulation newspaper in Poland, so far being printed in a few different printing houses, including one in Germany. Seregni Printing Group, SpringerŐs partner in the new enterprise, belongs to the Italian Seregni Group and already has a printing house in Warsaw. Polish-French cooperation talks A business meeting of representatives of thirteen Polish printing houses and three French companies (Graphique Conseil, Groupe Corlet Imprimerie and Typofilm) took place in Warsaw on December 6, 2004. Representatives of the three French firms were invited to Poland by the Polish-French Chamber of Commerce, which, together with the Polish Chamber of Printing, was the organizer of the meeting. The aim of the meeting was to find trade partners for the French firms among Polish printing houses. The talks went on for the whole day. Both sides expressed their satisfaction with the course of discussion; the Poles emphasised its purposefulness and the French were surprised and impressed by the professionalism of Polish printers and their capabilities. The following day, the representatives of the French firms visited three printing houses in the Warsaw area: Drukpol, Taurus and A-Z. Due to deep interest in such meetings, Polish Chamber of Printing decided to organise them more often. Stora Enso takes control over Intercell In December 2004, Polish authorities issued permission for a take-over of 66% of capital of the Intercell company from Ostrołęka by Stora Enso, a Scandinavian corporation, which is planning to increase its production of corrugated board. Intercell, whose turnover in 2003 reached 150 million Euro, is partially state-owned.
