Euro-Reklama 2004 The International Advertising Products and Services Fair Euro-Reklama 2004 was held in Poznan from the 20th to the 23rd of April. It was accompanied by the Infosystem 2004 Fair and ICT Eurofoto Forum. This yearŐs edition of Euro-Reklama attracted 256 exhibitors from 13 countries as well as 12 thousand visitors and it outdid the last years event by 25%. The exhibition mainly consisted of advertising souvenirs, advertising media and also equipment for production of advertisements, advertising and exhibition services. The printing industry presented a wider offer than usual. The event attracted many large-format printing equipment suppliers, such as Atrium, Jet Media, OcŽ Poland, Signtech C.E., Quedex, TeBa. A digital printing system, Punch GSS 320D, manufactured by the Punch Campus Namestovo company, had its Polish premiere (phot.). As usual, MTP Golden Medals were handed out and the best design of an exhibition booth was awarded Acanthus Aureus prize. General Meeting of PID Members General Meeting of the Polish Chamber of Printing (PID) members was held in Warsaw on the 14th of April. It can be concluded that important changes are to be expected. First of all a strategic goal was established and that is cooperation with small and medium printing houses and assistance in solving their everyday problems. To achieve that, membership fees were changed and diversified, and collection of registration fee was abandoned. By offering assistance to its members in getting financing and by organising training related to accession to the European Union, PID wants to attract more companies to become its members. New General Director of Sicpa Polska Jaroslaw Seweryn was appointed new general director of Sicpa Polska company. Mr. Seweryn is 37 years old and is a graduate of the Institute of Printing of the Warsaw Technical University. He started working for Sicpa in 1994 as a technical advisor and was part of the group that introduced Sicpa printing inks to the Polish market. Since 1999 Mr. Seweryn was working as sales director and since 2002 Đ as operating director. He became general director of Sicpa Poland on the 1st of April. First in Europe Presentation of Adobe Video Collection 2.5 software The presentation of new products constituting the Adobe Video Collection 2.5 package took place in the Warsaw Silver Screen Cinema on the 27th of April. It was its first official presentation of the package in Europe after the grand premiere in the United States. There was also a series of lectures addressed both to professionals using Adobe programs on an everyday basis, and to the less advanced users, willing to expand their knowledge and acquire new skills related to the newest Adobe products. The presentations were organised by Wimal International, the exclusive distributor of Adobe programs in Poland, in cooperation with experts from Adobe Systems. Robert Hranitzki, world expert on audio video products, presented the possibilities of the programs constituting the Adobe Video Collection 2.5 package. Peter Engrob, a renowned expert on graphic publication and a consultant for the Adobe Systems company, was in charge of the part of the presentation devoted to Photoshop CS, InDesign CS, Illustrator CS, GoLive CS and Acrobat Professional. Agfa :Acento Đ a Polish premiere Polish division of Agfa has installed the first :Acento CtP system in Poland. The system, announced by Agfa at the February's press conference in Mortsel, has been bought by a Warsaw-based company Print Media Services (PMS). Additionally Agfa has delivered a 64" :Grand Sherpa Universal printing system and Apple Macintosh G5 workstation, inculding software. Investments in :Acento and :Grand Sherpa Universal systems mean beginning in a cooperation between Agfa and PMS companies. Agfa has informed that it will deliver an advisory services for PMS, too. In the future PMS will also be a demo studio for Agfa products. First in Poland B0 Die-cutting Machine Heidelberg Dymatrix 142 CSB Pro Đ the first in Poland B0 die-cutting machine was installed in the IMC SA Winkowski Group printing house in Pila in April. It is already the second machine of the Dymatrix series installed in IMC SA (the first one had its official premiere in December 2003), and it is also one of only two in Poland. The new Dymatrix 142 CSB is to considerably expand IMCŐs production abilities in the field of packaging, and to increase the companyŐs production capacity for fulfilment of a larger number of incoming orders. In 2001 IMC SA was spun off as a separate identity of Winkowski Group, which is now one of the biggest and most modern companies in the printing business in the East-Central Europe, focused mainly on production colour magazines, such as Newsweek Polska or National Geographic. IMC SA provides complex customer service in the area of preparation and production of cardboard packaging. It employs 75 persons and occupies a strong position on the packaging production market.
